Biography

Harvinder Dhindsa was born and raised in India .In his school years he use to take a keen interest in his art class, and he use to get in trouble for drawing in his math class. His school projects were always encouraged by the teachers and put up in the morning assembly for other students to view. As he was finishing his high school his parents had a different plan for him. He obtained his B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) and a two year diploma in computers and put his passion for painting as on the side. "I was living in a country which is rich of arts and culture, but average parents don't want their kids to be any sort of artist."
In his spare time Harvinder use to draw, paint and join the company of another artist from his own town who lived just few blocks from his house. Harvinder considerd Amit his GURU. He is now one of India's most prestigious and renowned artist. From his childhood to now, Harvinder claims to be a self taught artist and take pride in it. "I think that any form of art can not be learned or taught, it should be in you and further refined and polished by the GURU."
Harvinder migrated to Canada in 1998 and his love for arts and creative expression infected him again. His work consist of a variety of subjects, the beauty of a young girl, the character of a weathered face, the solitude of a farm at sunset, still life, cowboys, native Indians and and uses mediums like oils, pastels, watercolors and pencils.
His art was choosen by the City of Calgary for their "Art in Motion" program.
Today Harvinder lives in Saddleridge, Calgary, Alberta, a quiet community in the North East part of the City. A quiet and perfect resting place after the many trips he take throughout the country and world in search of subject matter to paint.
